So, its finally over! The Junior League of York and PRSSA dress sale is finished! What a crazy/ stressful/ fun experience it was.
At the end of the sale we ended up making more than $1,000 for non-profits in the York area in only three days! I cant even believe it! I couldn’t have done it without the help of the PRSSA, The Junior League, my sorority ( Theta Phi Alpha), my co-account executive and our wonderful advisor Mrs. Carroll.
After we moved and organized all of the dresses, the fun part was setting up the store. It was amazing to see how the empty space progressively started to look more and more like an actual store. However, I think I most enjoyed helping the customers finding their dresses.
Many of the customers were shopping for prom dresses, something that I, like many young women, both loved and hated. There’s nothing more rewarding than finding the perfect dress, but there’s also nothing more annoying than trying on 50 that look horrible. Helping the girls find their prom dresses brought me back to high school and my prom dress buying experience. I loved helping them look for the cut and color of dress they wanted, and enjoyed even more when they looked in the mirror and knew that the dress was the one for them. The dress sale made me feel as if I was actually making a difference in someone’s life. Although they may not remember who helped them find their dress, they will always remember the amazing deal they got for it.
I am so incredibly happy that I had the opportunity to be an account executive for the dress sale. Spending the time with the store volunteers, my sisters and my advisor is another great experience I will be able to take away from York College.
Tonight I challenge you to get involved with an organization or event that could make your week, month, year or even life more meaningful and worthwhile.
