Recruitment comes to an end

Tomorrow night at around 9:30 my sorority will be receiving a whole new class of new members, and I cannot wait! All weekend the sororities on campus and potential new members have been spending hours getting to know one another. Believe me, it is not an easy task for all parties involved, but it is totally worth it in the end.

Sitting here now it makes me think of the recruitment process I went through. Its hard to believe that 2 years ago I was in the same position as these girls. I still remember the awkward conversations, anxiety over which chapter you will get a bid to and the moment when you finally receive a bid from the sorority you felt you belonged. It is an indescribable feeling and one that I wish everyone the chance to experience.

My advice to anyone even questioning going through recruitment, is to just do it!! What do you really have to lose? I can tell you through personal experience, you have more to gain than you will ever know. I believe that what you put into life is what you get out, and that 100 % applies for college too. If you choose to not try and put yourself out there and risk being out of your comfort zone, you will always remain the same and never grow. Being in Theta Phi Alpha has changed me forever and made my York College experience the most amazing time of my life.

So even if you don’t think Greek Life is for you, just try it, you may be pleasantly surprised. :)
